Design

•The Leather Straps secure the Windlass to the saw handles, which lock them in the closed position.

•The Frame is crafted from select premium Walnut hardwood for superior durability, strength, and rot resistance, while achieving a lighter weight than traditional maple or oak saws.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
•The Grips are finely hand sanded into an ergonomic shape, for endless sawing comfort with no hot spots.

•The 21" Bahco Dry Wood Sawblade is long lasting and razor sharp out-of-the-box. You may add a Green Wood blade if you prefer that style.

•The Windlass is reinforced with a brass rivet, and secured between two lengths of MIL-SPEC 550 Paracord.

Care Instructions

ASSEMBLY:
For proper tension, wind windlass 9-11 rotations until the blade is tight. (it should not bend while sawing)

MAINTAINANCE:

For best results, use our Bucksaw Butter wax on wood and leather.
Wabi-Sabi and Legacy Line saws will require extra care and maintenance in the form of bucksaw butter or wood oil around any burls or wood cracks.


STORAGE:

Dry off a wet saw / blade prior to storage.

When not in use, leave the string de-tentioned.

Lifetime Warranty

We stand behind our products and craft them to last a lifetime, hoping to leave you with something you can buy once, and pass on to future generations.

Our Bucksaws come with a Lifetime Warranty, which includes any manufacturing defects which compromise the structural integrity of the saw.

Each Wabi-Sabi or Legacy List Bucksaw is structurally secure, but will require maintenance with bucksaw butter or wood oil.

An absolute joy to hold in your hand...

Bucksaw #1453 is the fifth (yes, FIFTH… as in 5th) Bear Essentials bucksaw that I purchased. As most people that follow DJ and the Bear Essentials, I’m an outdoor enthusiast - a camper, overlander, hiker, sailor…. Stick me someplace in the middle of nowhere, make it less than comfortable and a little bit challenging, and I’m in my element. Having gear that’s well made and reliable isn’t something on which I'll compromise. To that end, all of the Bear Essentials bucksaws are both of those things, and they are also works of art. It’s immediately evident when you pick one up for the first time how much effort and attention to detail went into their construction.

I first purchased one for myself, and quickly thereafter purchased one for my best friend as a gift and token of affection. It then occurred to me that my twin boys ought to each have one - the perfect birthday present and incentive to get back out into the woods. And now I have #1453 in my hand, a present for a cousin I grew up with and haven't see in many, many years. Everyone that’s received one from me as a gift, or that I’ve allowed to hold mine, has had the same reaction. They are an absolute joy to hold in your hand.

And if that isn’t testimonial enough, I actually purchased a sixth saw to someday gift, just to be able to extend that gesture to one more person sometime in the future. It hasn’t arrived yet, but from the pictures it looks stunning! Thank you, DJ, for crafting such amazing heirloom quality bushcraft tool.
