Huge Ferro rod, efficient striker

Not gonna lie, I was extremely curious about the tungsten striker but had doubts paying that much for fire steel since I already have a bunch of them. I thought to myself "have ever been disappointed by any of DJ's merch?...Hell nahhh!" so I gave in and bought the kit along with a Merino beanie (Awesome fit, going to be my new favorite toque btw). Upon receiving the Ferro rod and striker, first thing I thought was that it was much bigger than the ones I own making a strong case for justifying the price. I mean I'll be starting my fires for years with this log of fire steel. Also, all my other Ferro rods have always come with flimsy, underperforming strikers making me use my knife spine and/or the spine of my Gomboy Silky Saw for better results. "But what if I don't have/want to carry the Silky Saw?"...well the Tungsten striker will do the job just fine. It held its own yesterday evening to light up a fire for our outside pizza stove and my 10 year old son lit a campfire earlier this evening using this set of tools.

As any other Bear Essentials product... Bullseye buy for sure!

Excellent product

Shipped and received in a timely fashion (< 1 week). Very hefty ferro rod and equally strong striker. Works very well. haven't tested in the field but threw lots of sparks and ignited fire in my fireplace in the first strike. Firestarting twine in the kit will undoubtedly be handy as well. Great product at competitive price.
